Czartoryski Museum: Nazi Loot: 4th century Cologne Chalice

1940: Stolen from Collections of the Czartoryski Princes, Gołuchów, Poland: The Cologne Chalice. Generally dated to the later 4th century AD, the Cologne Chalice is 18.5 cm high and made of green glass. It is a highly distinctive example of an early Christian chalice, with a figured inner cup, probably of gold leaf, depicting vegetation and flying angels.
